Sorry for the delay in my post, I've had a sick boy all week and completely forgot to post! This week I tried something new, homemade wontons. I found wonton wrappers in the produce section of my grocery store and decided I had to try them out. I looked up several recipes and tried a couple different ones. Hubs and I ended up combining them and made some yummy, delicious, crab wontons at home. While I truly believe that most foods are better fried, I decided to bake these wontons so that they are better for us (and so I could eat more with less guilt).
So here we go.
Baked Crab Wontonsby Julie for Oven Love
Ingredients:
6 oz. Fat Free Cream Cheese
4 oz. crab meat (we used imitation)
2 green onions - chopped
1 teaspoon garlic
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 teaspoon paprika
20 wonton wrappers
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Grease cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Place cream cheese in food processor and cream it for 20 seconds. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend in food processor until combined.
Place a teaspoon full of crab mix into wonton wrapper. Bring all 4 corners to the middle and use water to seal the edges. Place on cookie sheet.
Spray the finished wontons with a small amount of the cooking spray.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. If you cook them too long all the filling will burst out of the wrapper (and yes, I did learn this lesson the hard way).
Note: These did not taste the same as the yummy fried crab rangoon from the restaurant. BUT, we know exactly what is in these and we know that baked is better for our bodies than fried. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
ooo I love crab rangoons but baking these will make it so much healthier. yum
