Fridays with Julie - Arrrrgh! Pirate Party

This past weekend, my little man turned 3 years old.  Right now he LOVES Peter Pan and Jake and the Neverland Pirates, thus a pirate party was a simple and obvious choice.  Thanks to my good friend, "Pinterest" I found tons of great ideas to mold and make my own boys party a huge success.  We did send adorable invitations in a bottle that I found/modified to fit our party.  It was a fun thing to hear our friends reactions to getting a bottle in the mail.  Here's the pictures from his party.

I made these adorable cookies for the take home goodie bags.  You can find a great tutorial here:

I decided to change the labels on our beverages.  I created these using a digital scrapbook kit that I bought here : Scrappin Doodles  Then I printed them on legal size paper (perfect fit for a 2 liter bottle) and had them laminated.

I found these cute kid size travel mugs at Dollar Tree and then used my digital scrapbook kit to make personalized inserts for each kids cup.

Here's the table.  I made the banner with scrapbook paper and a Cricut Expression

Here's a close up.  The menu was:
  • Sea Dogs (hot dogs)
  • Golden Nuggets (Chick-fil-A nugget tray)
  • Cannon Balls (cheese balls)
  • Jewels (sword picks with pineapple and grapes)
  • Pirate Teeth (popcorn)
I bought the trays and bowls at Dollar Tree then used my Cricut to cut out vinyl decals to decorate them and make them "piratey."

Because I'm not a cake decorator and because Natalie is too far to help me - we had this store bought cake from our local grocery store, "Farm Fresh."

As you can see - my little man enjoyed the cake!

We also served ice cream that we pre-scooped into cups so that when it was time to eat no one had to wait.  It was/is one of my favorite things that I've learned on Pinterest (single serve ice cream ).

Activities: We had a 2X8 on 2 blocks like a balance beam that the kids could "Walk the Plank" and those words were painted on the beams.  We also hid necklaces and fake coins in the sand box so they could dig up buried treasure.

Overall, I would say that the party was a great success!
