I made a mini version of the Banana Cream Pie, picked by Amy at Sing for Your Supper. I used a third of Dorie's all-purpose pie crust, as suggested, but I used butter only, no shortening. I don't know what it is about shortening, I just feel weird using it. Instead of rolling the dough, I just pressed it into a (buttered and floured) mini springform pan.

that looks so yummy! I didn't make it since I really dont dig the texture of bananas, but checking out all the yummy reviews, I wish I had made it for my boys. :(

ReplyDeleteit looks fantastic! and i share your feelings about shortening. even though the major brand has packages say trans fat free or whatever, i still have reservations and am skeptical about using it.
